You can solve your problems

Life has its ups and downs and often we seem to be faced with insurmountable problems. Depression, melancholy and despondency can follow. It is difficult to get out of these situations and many people feel lost and alone. But, we can learn from those who have managed to overcome greater obstacles.

Spend time and assess your current problem. Imagine the ideal solution and turn it into a goal. Remember that nothing is achieved in a minute – set a realistic deadline and a comprehensive plan of action to get there. Take each day as it comes and never lose focus until you have reached the goal.

"Time can be an ally or an enemy. What it becomes depends entirely upon you, your goals, and your determination to use every available minute" - Zig Ziglar

use time wisely

Use your time wisely, make every minute count

Have you ever stood back and really considered how you are spending your time? So many of us rush around blindly, spend mindless hours watching TV, get involved in office gossip, or simply waste time hoping it will pass because we are bored.

Life is precious and no one ever knows how many moments we have left. Don’t squander time – use it wisely. Plan to have me-time, plan to set and achieve goals, plan to spend time with loved ones and friends. Take time to explore, learn and discover new delights. Ensure that you make every minute count.

“When it is obvious that the goals cannot be reached, don't adjust the goals, adjust the action steps” - Confucius

Don't give up on your goals

Don’t give up on your goals

Are you struggling with a goal that you feel you cannot reach? It is so easy to claim failure and give up. Have you forgotten that at the time you decided on the goal you were determined to achieve it?

Many things in life are not handed to us and often we have to strive for them. Don’t give up on your goals. Don’t make excuses and find reasons why it won’t work. Sit back, take time, reassess the goal and decide on a new course of action to achieve it. It may take longer but you will get there in the end.

"Your goals are the road maps that guide you and show you what is possible for your life." - Les Brown

Your goals are the road maps that guide you

You need goals in your life, no matter what age you are

Going to college or starting a job are goals that drive so many of us when we are young. Then what happens? Life catches up with us and we find ourselves in dreary day-to-day routines with no time to do anything that matters to us.

Whatever your age, you need to set goals in your life. They may be small or large. They may be fun or a challenge. Spend time and plan ahead. Goals motivate, make you grow, learn and believe. Set and achieve one at a time and never give up. You will suddenly have a fabulous new outlook on life.

Don’t ever get complacent

Very often we convince ourselves that we are doing okay and we tend to become complacent. We know that we are on the right track and we get lazy and let life pass us by.

Remember that it has taken time and much effort to get onto the right track and now is not the time to stop. You need to keep going else you will start slipping backwards, and, you don’t want to get run over!

Wake up every day and pat yourself on the back – you are on the right track – but remember – you need to keep moving forward.

Do not be daunted by the size of a project

When we are faced with a massive task it can be difficult to know where to start. It may be a challenging work assignment or a home project. Perhaps you are struggling with a personal goal to improve your life that seems unattainable.

Worrying about the immensity of the task is a sure way to create a mental block. We end up making excuses, putting it off, or simply never start.

Taking the first small step is all you need to create the momentum to keep going and gain confidence. Don’t worry about the end – make a start and the rest will follow.
